Sometimes life seems hard and we don’t know why and or what we think or feel anymore and this impacts our mood and behaviour.
Talking to someone in a confidential setting away from your usual environment may be the support that you need. Most of my clients relate to one or more of the following:
The reality of our lives is different than what we expected
Feel anxious and or stressed and or worried
Have low motivation
Have suffered loss and are finding it hard to cope
Unexpected curve balls have thrown them off track
Feel they are losing a grip and are spinning too many plates
Struggling meeting the demands of others e.g. family members, friends, and work colleagues
Feel lost, hopeless and unfulfilled
Not enjoying life like they used to
Struggling to relax and have sleep issues
Seeking temporary comfort from things such food, drink or other substances
Dealing with cancer or other illnesses
Redundancy and change in the workplace
As an integrative trained counsellor, I firmly believe it’s ok not be ok.
About me and my therapy practice
I'm qualified in various strands of counselling and have a Level 5 in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and regularly attend training sessions to improve my overall knowledge and skills. I tailor my sessions to meet the clients needs and goals for therapy.
I'm also trained to deliver Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) a developing area of rapid therapeutic change work that explores the area of undesired emotions and our ways of being. IEMT techniques help to create change by rapidly reducing unwanted feelings, supporting resolving issues.
Many of my clients comment that they’ve found our counselling sessions helpful and have benefitted from being listened to, not judged and having a safe place to share and explore their thoughts and feelings, even though initially this felt strange.
Counselling is an investment in you and my sessions will be totally focused on your intended outcomes.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and follow their ethical framework.
In addition to counselling experience, I have over 30 years commercial experience as a senior manager leading and supporting diverse teams. I’ve worked with and supported youth and young adults for many years as a voluntary Youth Leader.
During the pandemic I worked as counsellor at Mind and HealthBox offering zoom/telephone counselling.
Practice description
I have a private self contained therapy room and also work from Heswall Hills Counselling Centre.
My first session
During the first client meeting I check that clients are happy to work with me and will feel comfortable allowing me to sit with them using Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills as appropriate to help them gain a greater understanding of themselves.
I often share tools and techniques to help clients deal with life’s challenges and hopefully improve their mood and outlook.
