About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified person-centered counsellor and psychotherapist and an EMDR practitioner. I also have a qualification in bereavement counselling.
I believe building a trusting, safe relationship is the most important aspect of working and enabling change. I work in a person-centered way, with the needs of the client always at the centre of all work. I agree with clients what issues are most important to them and set goals together.
I have over 35 years experience of supporting people with a variety of issues. I started my career as a mental health nurse and worked in a specialist unit for people with phobias and OCD. I have 8 years experience of working with problem drinkers and their families in a variety of settings. I have worked in partnership with a local authority to support employees and worked in a specialist bereavement service. More recently I have worked in student counselling and for a charity offering affordable long term counselling and psychotherapy and Employment assisted Programmes. I have worked within NHS, Local authorities, Charities and Education. I have worked in cities and rural island communities.
I currently work part time at Edinburgh University THIS PROHIBITS ME FROM SEEING CURRENT EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS.
I am available to see clients on Mondays in central Edinburgh at Edinburgh Counselling and Psychotherapy, the room is on the 2nd Floor with no lift access.
