About me and my therapy practice
I specialise In helping couples and individuals to explore long standing problems in their life. I am a relationship counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice.
My clients come to see me because they are distressed about recurring problems in their life and relationships. They want help with their distress, to be heard, understood and supported to make changes toward a more satisfying life and stronger relationships.
Types of problems I help clients with:
Relationship difficulties with a partner, friend or family member; help to understand and repair what is going wrong in a relationship, finding ways of building stronger partnerships, friendships and family connections.
Difficulty forming or maintaining satisfying relationships; Identifying unhelpful patterns and ways of coping that can disrupt relationships
Adjusting to life changes and transitions such as university, marriage, birth of children and retirement, chronic or terminal illness. Help to make successful transitions at key life stages.
Treating depression and anxiety that is restricting the ability to live a full life
Support for sustained recovery from problem gambling

My Experience
I have worked for leading charities as a relationship counsellor, addictions counsellor and have worked in private practice following extensive specialist training in psychotherapy.
Practice description
I specialise in relationship (family) therapy andindividual psychodynamic psychotherapy. I am currently providing web cam sessions and telephone sessions. Face to face sessions at my Harrogate practice when it is safe to do so.
My first session
The first session is to identify in more detail what you would like to get from therapy, and how we might work together in the best way to support this, including thinking about how many sessions might be needed. During this first session I will ask you about your present situation and about your past experiences, in order to understand you better. I will do my best to answer your questions too. From this we can think about options for the way forward.
