About me and my therapy practice

I am a Person Centred Counsellor with an understanding of other disciplines such as Transactional Analysis ( TA) Gestalt, Psychodynamic and CBT.

I have twelve years experience as a counsellor in a variety of settings and have worked in related fields such as Youth & Community Work, Residential Social Work with young people & the Police Force. I have experience of working with carers of people with mental illness as well as those who live and work in a military environment.

I will see trainee counsellors for £40 an hour for counselling as part of their counselling course. I am happy to confirm by email or letter to their college that trainee counsellors have attended counselling  for the required amount of sessions. I will also see people in receipt of state benefits or Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Disability Allowance (DA) at a reduced fee by prior arrangement. I will require a scanned photo or photocopy of the Universal credit, PIP, DA or State Pension payment by email as an attachment or via messenger/Whatsapp phone message.

I work from our bungalow in Coningsby which is near Lincoln and Boston in Lincolnshire. I completed online and telephone counselling training with Talk to a Therapist in  London in 2008. Prior to that I trained at Metanoia Institute in Ealing, West London from 2001-2003 before transferring to Bucks & Chiltern University in High Wycombe in 2004, obtaining a Diploma in Counselling in 2005 & became a BACP accredited counsellor in 2008.

I am happy to provide counselling either short term e.g. four to six sessions or long term e.g. twelve sessions or more. I am also willing to work with clients who just want one session. For the foreseeable future I will only be offering Whatsapp video/ phone counselling and supervision.

About me and my therapy practice

I trained on the Post Graduate Certificate of Person Centred Supervision Course with Temenos in 2008. The tutors were Mike Worrell & Keith Tudor, the course was held in London. I have several years experience of Person Centred Supervision as well as having supervised part time youth workers in my former role of Youth and Community Worker with Oxford & Reading Youth Service between 2000 & 2005.

I have supervised both qualified and trainee counsellors and see trainees & newly qualified counsellors for a reduced rate for both supervision and therapy. I am happy to complete supervision reports and any other course requirement such as proof of trainee completing supervision sessions by email when working with trainee counsellors. As well as this I am available by email or phone between sessions if the trainee is particularly concerned about a client they are seeing at a placement while training or if they are new to private practice.

As a Youth and Community worker, I was employed by a variety of services, both local authority and voluntary organisations (The Methodist Church). I have also worked in residential work & as a Child & Family Worker with children & partners of drinkers and as a carers support worker with Rethink supporting carers of  people with mental illness. This is all useful experience which benefits my trainees in supervision

I am only working via Skype, Whatsapp video/phone or Zoom for Supervision for the forseeable future due to Covid 19.

Practice description

I am a Person Centred supervisor who aims to empathise with what you are trying to achieve in your work with clients. I will ensure that the work is ethical and encourage self care and professionalism at all times. I believe that supervision is a partnership with the power balance being fairly equal. What happens in supervision depends on what you bring to the session and I tend to respond according to my own counselling & where appropriate my youth work/carers support & other experience. I wil encourage you to refer to the BACP ethical framework & website where appropriate.
