AvailabilityThere are times in our life when we may need to find a space where we feel comfortable and safe enough to talk about the problems or difficulties we are facing without feeling judged or criticised. I aim to create this space by helping you safely explore your emotions, feelings and thoughts in a non- judgemental, confidential and trusting environment. I will not tell you what to do, although occasionally I may give you information or offer suggestions, but I will attempt to help you discover your solutions and/or your own way forward. This process involves your commitment and your honesty both with yourself and me. We will discuss the overall aims of your counselling during our first session, and, if at any time, I feel I cannot help you in some way, I will discuss this with you and offer to refer you to someone who can.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a integrative therapist which means I use a range of modalities and skills ensuring I can use the right approach for you. I will respect your 'story' at whatever pace is right for you. Similarly, I will respect your desire not to disclose, as I deem it important for you to have as much control over your therapy (and your feelings) as is possible.
Through the counselling process, we go on what I consider to be, a psychological journey together. You are always in control. You are the leader of the journey. I always go at your pace, never rushing you, and I only go to the places you feel you’re ready to take me. I’m not going to force you up a hill you don’t have the energy to climb; I always look to you for the direction. For example, even if there is a fork in your chosen path, and you are uncertain of which path to take, I help you weigh up and look at your options, but the decision of the best
I work in an open and transparent way I feel this helps to build trust and honesty. Through the process of forming a non-judgmental relationship with you, in which you are free to express yourself openly and honestly, and most importantly, in which you are free to be you. We should be able to form an in-depth understanding, and be able to define together (with great clarity) what problems are standing in the way of you moving forwards to the quality of life, or way of being you desire.
My first session
The first session gives us a chance to get to know each other ask questions and, establish the beginning of a therapeutic relationship if, it feels right for both of us. Also, when we first make contact, we can talk about what it is you would like from counselling. This may not be immediately clear for you at first. We can discuss whatever you choose to bring at that time. if you feel what I got to offer could benefit you please contact me.
