About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling stressed or depressed? Do you struggle to make or maintain relationships? Are you keen to understand yourself better? Or perhaps work through a difficult or life changing decision?
Sometimes we experience things in life that are overwhelming or difficult to describe to the people around us. This can make us feel vulnerable and lonely. It can really help to talk to someone who is trained to listen and can focus solely on you. If you feel properly heard and understood you can gain insight and clarity, making it easier to make choices about your life.
I believe it’s the quality of the relationship between client and counsellor which provides the fundamental essence of successful therapy. By helping to facilitate this very personal process I hope that you will come to terms with the issues, feelings and behaviours which have led to feeling stuck or troubled.
I am a qualified person-centred psychotherapist and counsellor. My approach is non-judgemental and client-focused, giving you the time and space to explore whatever is on your mind.
I work from a comfortable, private therapy room in Islington, North London. It’s conveniently located between Canonbury, Dalston and Newington Green. Highbury Corner is the nearest Tube (ten minutes' walk). However, all sessions are currently taking place by telephone or video call. I am on the 141, 21, 73, 76, 56, 30 and 38 bus routes. Metered parking is available on the next street. I have full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.
I hold a BACP accredited Diploma in Counselling. I studied Counselling Skills at Birkbeck, University of London and completed a course on Adolescence at The Tavistock Centre. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (www.bacp.co.uk). The BACP requires evidence of qualifications and good professional standards and I am bound by their ethical framework. I am in regular supervision in accordance with BACP guidelines. I have worked in London for several years, with a diverse range of clients and addressing a wide variety of issues. I have volunteered for a number of charities and worked as a School Counsellor in the London Borough of Brent, helping children with emotional problems and challenging behaviour. I continue to develop my skills, knowledge, and experience through regular CPD workshops, peer discussion and reading.
My first session
Please email me via my contact page and I will arrange to call you for an initial conversation. I can answer any questions you may have and you can decide if I am the right therapist for you.
I recognise the importance of finding a counsellor with whom you feel you can develop a trusting relationship. There is no charge for an initial consultation, thereafter we will find a regular session time that suits you. Payment can be made at the end of each month.
Some people find that a few sessions of therapy can help them address a specific problem, while others choose to work on a longer-term basis to help focus on deeper concerns.
