About me and my therapy practice

I am a highly experienced Couple and Psychosexual therapist with 13 years of experience working with individuals and couples. Whether you are looking for help with improving your relationship in general or struggling with a particular issue, weekly sessions can help you in understanding yourself (and your partner) better and provide you with a safe, non-judgmental space where you will feel seen and heard.

Clients sometimes come in to talk about how their partners or others are the cause for their unhappiness. By creating ample space for clients to vent their feelings while providing them a scaffolding. I use my advantage in being at a distance while being curious about their experiences, offering my clients a neutral third person’s point of view. This helps clients identify what they might be contributing towards their relationship issues.

Sex is one of the toughest subjects to talk about for most people. We are surrounded by images in the media of people with unnaturally perfect bodies having copious amounts of fantastical sex.

I help clients with myth busting through psycho-education for instance about male and female sexual arousal. Clients learn about how sex in real life works and feel more confident in themselves. For unless we find a vocabulary to talk about sex we really can’t get anywhere close to resolving sexual problems.

An extended assessment is carried out with detailed family and relationship history. At the end of this I provide a formulation and agree a treatment plan in collaboration with client/s.

I integrate psychodynamic work with behavioural work like mindfulness techniques to help my clients’ ability to stay in the moment, as well as Sensate Focus a series of pre-agreed, gradual gentle touching exercises.

Practice description

In my opinion investing time and money in yourself and your relationship by going in to therapy is one of the best investments you can make.

I see clients on a weekly basis and tailor my work with each couple or individual based on what they need. I have had the privilege of working with so many courageous clients who had come seeking help in a very distressed state. Over more than a decade of work I have tried to help my clients become a better more authentic version of themselves while accepting responsibility for what they may be putting in to the basket.

Change often takes time and patience and is not a painless process. However, I have witnessed many clients transform their relationship to themselves and their partners by taking the risk to enter therapy and sticking with it.

I often find myself helping clients re-write their old narratives about themselves from a kinder perspective. I believe a better and kinder relationship with ones’ self is required to build a better relationship with others. A lot of my work is therefore about forgiveness and acceptance of who a person is and once clients learn to really love themselves they are then able to have more room in themselves to love and accept others.

People can sometimes choose a partner based on the idea of either saving or helping them or being helped or saved by them. Through my work on self love, clients begin to build a healthy relationship with themselves allowing them to develop healthier kinder relationships. 

My first session

After having a brief chat over the phone, I offer clients an initial assessment lasting 50 minutes. Unless the nature of the work is psychosexual in which case up to three sessions might be required.

I request all sessions to be paid for 48 hours in advance, which also means I require at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel a session. In most cases we are able to re-arrange a session for a different time or date.

Once we agree to a time and day, sessions take place weekly and unless a session is cancelled by me, clients are responsible to pay for missed sessions.

I offer a limited number of sessions at concessional rates. I accept bank transfers and Paypal.
