I work with couples on Friday and Saturday mornings and am currently only working online.

About me and my therapy practice

I am passionate about working with couples to improve and repair their relationships, whether their issues are in their early stages or feel insurmountable. I work collaboratively with couples, helping them to a deeper understanding and appreciation of themselves, each other, and their relationship.

I am also returning to working with individuals, this time from an emotionally focused approach.

I am an experienced therapist who was certified by ICEEFT as an emotionally focused therapist in 2012, as an EFT Supervisor in 2015 and as an EFT Trainer in 2018. Before working with couples I was a Person Centred Counsellor working with individuals, having qualified as a counsellor in 1992.

Practice description

I currently only work online.

My first session

The first 4 sessions of couples therapy are a process of assessment where we can explore how we can work together.

The first session includes going through an agreement and then looking at why you have come to therapy at this time while you also get a flavour of what EFT involves.

The second and third sessions are individual sessions where we can get to know each other a little more and we can talk more about your current and previous relationships as well as other important elements that impact your current relationship.

The fourth session brings us back together and we explore the process so far and agree what the aims of therapy would be and how that might look. We confirm if we are going ahead and, assuming we are, we progress with therapy.

In individual therapy the first session includes going through an agreement and then looking at why you have come to therapy at this time while you also get a flavour of what EFT involves.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an ICEEFT certified Emotionally Focused Therapy Trainer, one of only 2 in Britain.

We run Emotionally Focused Therapy training courses, primarily focused on working with couples, in both London and Manchester.

Our main training is the formal training for EFT, as developed by Sue Johnson and colleagues. The first level of training is the 4-day Externship and this is followed by Core Skills - consisting of 4 modules of 2 days each. These courses make up the essential training element in becoming a certified EFT Therapist.

We also run occasional training days on different elements of EFT. Training currently takes place in London and Manchester.

See website for more details.

Availability

I work with supervisees on Tuesdays and Thursdays and am currently only working online usually via Zoom.

I have availability for therapists wanting to develop their use of Emotionally Focused Therapy, including those working towards certification with ICEEFT.

About me and my therapy practice

I am committed to supporting the development of Emotionally Focused Therapists and helping them embed EFT more and more into their work with couples and individuals. I work with therapist's new to EFT as well as those more experienced.

I am an experienced therapist, supervisor and trainer and was certified by ICEEFT as an emotionally focused therapist in 2012, as an EFT supervisor 2015, and as an EFT Trainer in 2018. Before I discovered EFT I had been a Person Centred Counsellor, supervisor and trainer.

Practice description

I offer consultative supervision and practice supervision. Consultative supervision is where a therapist wants occasional specific EFT supervision but continues with a regular supervisor for their overall client work. Practice supervision is monthly supervision (usually at least 1 1/2 hours per month as per BACP guidelines); this usually covers the whole of the therapist's client work including, but not limited to, EFT.

While the overall formula for supporting supervisees’ development is essentially the same, what each person needs, in any particular session, varies and so what I offer varies greatly or subtly. This individual and collaborative approach mirrors the way that we work with clients in EFT – having a clear idea of the map but each person and couple making their unique journey.

Supervisees are encouraged to bring brief recordings of sessions for us to listen to and discuss. It is only recordings that can give us a true insight into what happened. I check out what supervisees want from playing a recording and ensure that I offer praise and encouragement of the work as well as exploring areas for growth and development. We might consider: what EFT skills you used and the response to these, a difficult moment and how it might be managed more effectively - perhaps role playing this to build skills and confidence, issues that are coming up for the therapist, the current step and stage the couple are in.
