About me and my therapy practice
For over 20 years I have worked with individuals, couples and families. I have also supervised experienced therapists/counsellors as well as students and delivered training to trainee and experienced counsellors, as well as life skills courses to various organisations and the public.
The heart of my practice is assessing whether I can be of help, and then using the approach and skills that are most useful and meaningful to my clients.
Establishment of a warm and supportive relationship that provides a safe environment for exploration and understanding offers the framework for our work together.
Many years of practice experience enables me to integrate different theoretical ideas and interventions but also to bring a common sense approach and warmth. I approach the work with clients collaboratively so that interventions are most meaningful and helpful to you
Issues I have worked with include: unresolved conflict; breakdown in communication; affairs; loss; separation and divorce; parenting; impact of life-change; unhelpful and unresolved past experiences; depression; anxiety; ambivalence and uncertainty, including struggling to commit to a relationship; loss of self esteem and confidence.
Practice description
My private practice is a short walk from Ealing Common tube station and is on the 607, 207 and 427 bus routes. If driving there is parking.
I meet with clients face to face although telephone and online counselling is available to those that cannot attend at all times. These options can be discussed in the consultation session.
The recent pandemic has meant that for now all sessions are either by telephone or online video.
My first session
The initial session is a consultation. It is an opportunity for individuals or a couple to assess if they feel comfortable working with me and for me to assess if I can be helpful.
The focus of work and the desired outcome including thinking about the most helpful approach will be explored.
The consultation intends to offer a way forward and some insight into resolving what brings you to counselling.
At the end of the session clients are invited to go away and think if they would like to start working with me.
