About me and my therapy practice
Hello, firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to read about my work. I would also like to reassure you that I fully appreciate that this step can often be very difficult and daunting. However, hopefully this first step can lead to you having a positive and rewarding experience, working together helping to make a change.
Lots of people turn to counselling for many reasons, this could be for an existing problem, possibly relationship issues, generalised anxiety, or depression for example, or maybe something more unexpected. I can assure you that I strive to provide a warm and friendly, non - judgemental service, where you will have the space to talk about, and work through, your thoughts and feelings in a safe environment.
I am predominantly a person centred therapist, but also draw from interventions and techniques from other therapies, for example CBT, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. I am BACP accredited which will hopefully reassure you that I have completed a substantial level of training and have vast experience approved by the association.
I currently work, as a counsellor, for a charity who offer therapeutic services for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I have also worked as a counsellor for an organisation that helps and supports women.
Prior to working as a counsellor I worked within education, working closely with children and young people who were experiencing emotional and/or behavioural difficulties.
