About me and my therapy practice
Hi, A warm welcome .My name is Lesley I have 9 years post-graduation counselling and psychotherapy practice within the NHS as a psychotherapist, and in private practice. I also work for BUPA.I am BACP accredited having gained a 1st class honours degree in psychotherapy in 2013. In addition I have a Post-Graduate qualification from the Royal Holloway University in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and am a accredited member of the BABCP as a CBT therapist.
This means that without all the jargon, and beyond all the theory, I can help and assist you in a person centred way to listen and explore your troubles and we can also approach issues like anxiety in a more structured direct approach.
Being a qualified CBT psychotherapist means I do not just use CBT type techniques as a counsellor might. I am fully qualified to diagnose mild/moderate mental health problems and use interventions in a solution focused way. Both in a "client driven" and structured approach, I can help you with evidence based NICE guideline therapeutic techniques to both alleviate distress and work towards solving problems long term.
Whatever the issue, I work closely with clients to achieve their goals through an individually tailored and collaborative approach. I offer a welcoming and understanding space, a thorough and comprehensive set of therapeutic tools, in an emphatic non-judgemental and culturally sensitive way. Whatever is troubling you or causing you emotional distress , there is a way through it!
I work mainly via zoom and MS team, with some face-to-face sessions are available during normal business hours.
I am also trained in Yoga, the healing arts, Mindfulness and relaxation. I can bring this into my practice if required and I am happy to advise on this type of healing. I can also work with infertility issues, long-term health conditions such as diabetes and with carers and foster carers.
