About me and my therapy practice

My name is Jacqui Miller and I am a therapeutic counsellor specialising in online counselling from my therapy practice, Azure Dragonfly Counselling.

I am an integrative counsellor with experience in Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Psycho-Education, Gestalt, Transpersonal and Cognitive Behavioural approaches to therapy.

I work with clients who are experiencing common mental health issues such as anxiety and depression; personality and identity issues; neurodivergence; and chronic illness. I also support clients who are going through various life transitions, problems, and experiences relating to work, home, family and relationships.

I believe that counselling can transform lives - helping us to manage difficult emotions, negotiate challenging life experiences, and change unwanted behaviours. Counselling can open our eyes to new possibilities, boost our confidence, resilience and self-esteem, and improve our mental health and physical wellbeing. With the right therapeutic relationship counselling has the capacity to be life-changing.

As professional counsellors we accumulate knowledge through years' of training, research and experience, but the real expert on the subject of you, is you. I believe that you have the wisdom and the power within you to make positive changes to your mental health and wellbeing. The counsellor's role is to help you unlock that potential.

Counselling is not about being given a solution to a problem, it is a process. As your counsellor I am here to listen, to support, and to accompany you as we navigate through the process together.

Practice description

Azure Dragonfly Counselling provides online counselling sessions for adults and young people in the UK over the age of 18.

Online counselling provides flexibility, there is no travelling, it saves time, you can access it from the comfort of your home or any other private space, and being online can often feel easier than meeting in person.

All you need is a laptop, tablet or phone; a reliable broadband connection; microphone and speakers or head set; and access to a private space.

You will be sent a Zoom link via email from which you can access our sessions. Payments are requested on, or before, the day of the session. Payments can be made by bank transfer or via a payment link on the Azure Dragonfly Counselling website.

Like face-to-face counselling, sessions are 50 minutes long and are on the same day and at the same time each week.  I offer short-term and long-term weekly therapy with a review every 6-8 weeks as required.

I understand that everyone is different, and each of us has a unique view of ourselves and the world in which we live. At Azure Dragonfly Counselling every person is valued, every story is valid, and every personal journey is just as important as the next.

This means every therapy session is unique, and tailored to meet each client's individual counselling needs. My aim is to help clients celebrate their individuality, unlock their potential and to achieve their personal goals.

My first session

Seeking support for mental health can sometimes create feelings of anxiety, vulnerability, or shame, and this can be enough to deter us from taking that first step in getting help.

In reality, talking to a counsellor can be a really positive experience and may benefit anyone wanting to understand more about themselves, or make positive changes in their life.

Often, simply having a safe and judgement-free space in which to talk openly and honestly can quickly make a positive difference to how we feel.

I will do everything I can to make the process as easy and comfortable as I can, with the first step being a free 15 minute consultation either by phone or online. This is an opportunity for me to answer any questions you may have and for you to see if I am a good fit for you. The counselling relationship is very important, and you need to feel able to trust your therapist.

If you decide to proceed we can then arrange our first session which is an informal assessment (your first paid session).  This involves me taking your contact, emergency and background information, going over practical arrangements, discussing privacy and confidentiality, answering any questions, and completing a short patient health questionnaire. We can also discuss what has prompted you to come to counselling, as well as what your requirements from our sessions are.
