About me and my therapy practice

I am a eating disorder therapist, helping people to understand and create a better relationship with food.

Eating disorders can be complex issues and usually start as a coping stratagy during difficult times. There are many triggers that can create disorded eating such as - a difficult childhood, bulling, trauma, bereavement or even failed (yo-yo) dieting.

How I can help:

We will look at different healthy ways of coping with emotions instead of reaching for food as the first line of defence.

Help resolve issues that may have triggered the disorded eating .  As well as considering other issues that may have arisen and could sabotage your recovery.

I offer a safe, comfortable space where you can explore your struggles and difficulties. I will leave complicated jargon where it should remain; out of the counselling room, so that you feel at ease, and we are able to build a therapeutic relationship out of honesty and trust.

Practice description

I am a integrative counsellor. The bedrock of my practice is person centered, which means, that you are at the heart of our work together, however, I may use different theories and creative approaches that fit with your needs.

I have completed an FdA Integrative Counselling course with the University of Worcester. This course is accredited by the BACP, so my registration is as a MBACP. I am also working towards my own accreditation with the BACP.

I have completed an Eating Disorders course accredited by the National Counselling Society (NCS). This course gives me a greater understanding of eating disorders and the impact it can have on a person’s life, giving me the ability to support you through your recovery.

I am also a trauma informed therapist, giving me an awareness of the impact  trauma can have in life and how it impacts our coping abilities.

My first session

I offer a free initial 30 min consultation over the phone or online. Giving you time to ask me any question you have.

Our first 50 min session will be an assessment, this can be held face to face, or online. This session is for us to discuss in detail the situation or problems you are wanting help with before you start therapy.

I feel it is very important that you find the right therapist for you to be able to achieve your goals, and can take a few attempts with different therapists. I feel that it is important that you find someone you can build a good working relationship with, so you are under no obligation to choose me as your therapist, even after the assessment has taken place.

Each session will last for 50 minutes.
