About me and my therapy practice
Whether you are trying to overcome a specific obstacle, or if you cannot identify what is causing you 'discomfort'; whether you feel you are not meeting your potential and want to learn more about yourself; if you want to experience more fulfilling relationships, I offer a warm and caring space for you to be listened with undivided attention and with no judgment. The therapy I provide is built around you as individual and your own needs.
My role is to assist and support you, facilitating your process in finding your own solutions, in a curious, open and non-directive exploration of what you bring in the room; I help you creating the condition for personal change and growth.
Children and Young People
Children and young people face difficulties whilst growing up, and it is not unusual for us as parents to feel deskilled in helping them. Using a variety of resources and therapeutic play, I assist children and young people explore, name and wonder about feelings and behaviours. This work helps them feeling more relaxed and equips them with strategies to deal with anxiety, low mood, anger, low self-esteem and grief; also, it helps them to make sense of difficult emotions such as change, loss and fear.
Bearing in mind that a child is part of a wider context, I also work with parents to find a better way to support and eventually resolve the issues their children are facing.
I am passionate about my work and have been gaining valuable experience in private practice, agency settings and schools, where I meet male and female clients of any class, ethnicity, faith, belief, culture, sexual orientation and gender identity, presenting a variety of emotional issues.
At the core of my practice is the respect of our uniqueness and diversity as human beings, meaning that I value and accept you as your own person whether you are an adult, child or young person.
My approach to counselling is Integrative, which means that I draw from several major schools of counselling with preference for Humanistic and Existential approach.
Training to work with children and young people and the coaching allows me to really adapt to my clients' needs, offering a truly tailored experience to my clients.
My first session
The initial session is scheduled after we have had a 20 min telephone call where you tell me a bit more about what is it you are facing and what are your requirements. If you decide to work with me we book the first session.
The first session ( whether in person or online) is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, and for you to ask, share and explore anything about therapy and the way I work with regards to the reason you are seeking support. At the end of the session we will agree on how to move forward and if you confirm you want to work with me, we will book future appointments and we will sign the therapeutic agreement.
When working with Children and Young People the first session is going to be slightly different - depending on the age of the child /YP and the issue, I ask parent(s)/ career(s) to meet me alone to understand their perspective; we then proceed to book a session with the child/YP where I invite parent(s)/ career(s)to be present for the first 10 min to revisit the ground-rules in term of confidentiality and information sharing so the relationship with the CYP starts with clear boundaries heard and accepted by all the parties involved.
