About me and my therapy practice
During this time it is very important that we all look after ourselves by minimising personal contact. But it is also important that people can continue or start counselling to give themselves the support they need.
To support you in this, I am offering Skype or telephone counselling only for all clients, until further notice.
You do not have to be in crisis or have experienced a major life event to benefit from counselling. People seek counselling for many reasons and these may include a major trauma or just a general feeling of 'things not being right'. Some issues that I have helped people with are anxiety, abuse, bereavement and loss, breakdown of a relationship, depression, disability, family or relationship difficulties, feeling unable to cope, low self esteem, stress, traumatic events, and work related issues.
My first session
My work with you will be based on the Person Centred principles of showing acceptance and a non-judgemental understanding of your situation and I hope you will find this gentle and supportive. It will be based on respect for you as an individual and a belief that you will know what's best for you, even though you may not be aware of this. I will work with you to find your own strengths and inner resources.
Once you have made contact with me we can discuss your availability and establish what you are looking for. We will then book an initial consultation to explore what brings you to counselling and to give you an experience of what therapy with me would be like. If therapy feels right for you at this time, and my therapeutic approach feels like something you could work with, we will then discuss and agree a framework and book a number of sessions.
