About me and my therapy practice

It can be hard to talk about things that are bothering you, even with people who are close like family or friends.  I offer a safe, supportive and confidential space where we can explore your problems and work together to find some answers.  I'm an experienced and professional therapist  who has worked for 18 years in the NHS. I've also worked in a Hospice as well as privately and with voluntary agencies.

Who comes for counselling?

I work with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, different kinds of loss, relationship difficulties or problems at work. Some people come facing turning points in their lives.  Or they may want to step back and take a look at their past and how it may be affecting their lives now. Maybe they just feel there's something wrong with the way their lives are going but they're not sure what it is.

What you can expect from me

I'm totally committed to offering you a space where I listen carefully, non-judgementally and with complete respect. As your counsellor, I'm not an expert on you - you're the expert on how you feel and how you would like to live your life. I'm there to help you think about what your goals are and to work together with you to get there.

In our first session we'll talk about what has brought you to counselling and how we can work together. We'll discuss practical things like when and how often you would like to meet. I usually suggest that we have weekly or fortnightly sessions to start with, and each session lasts 50 minutes.

Although I'm a qualified Person-Centred counsellor I've had training in several other approaches, so I have a 'tool-kit' to help you find the best way forward for yourself.

My fee is £50 per hour (negotiable).

About me and my therapy practice

I work as a supervisor offering supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors in South Manchester.  I have a Diploma in the Supervision of Counselling and the Caring Professions from the University of Manchester. I work within the framework of the seven-eyed model (Hawkins and Shohett 2006)

I use an integrative approach, both as a counsellor and supervisor, but work primarily from a Person Centred perspective.  I see my role as supervisor as being to provide support with case work as well as learning and development and professional issues.

My aim as a supervisor is to build a warm, non-judgemental relationship with my supervisees which is also challenging and honest, and to provide a safe, confidential environment in which all kinds of issues can be discussed.

I offer an initial appointment to discuss the role of supervision in more detail. This would also provide the opportunity to set up a contract.

I offer face-to-face or on-line appointments.

Concessionary rates are available for counselling trainees.
