About me and my therapy practice
I offer a place where you can share the fullest version, or versions, of yourself – all of you is welcome here. Freedom and safety to be yourself is powerful and important – it is a large part of what I provide in my work.
My specialism is to listen, understand and to relate to you in a way that helps you feel deeply understood and seen. Working from the person-centred approach, I believe in the power of individuals to understand and change with the support of a helpful therapeutic relationship. Mainly I work with clients long-term. Through our relationship, realisations and understandings occur that can lead to lasting change in how you see and understand yourself, others, and the world around you.
Through therapy, you might want to make changes in your life or increase your self-understanding. You might want to make more sense of who you are, in relation to your experiences. Or, maybe you are navigating some difficult life transitions. I believe in the power of good therapeutic relationships to make things more manageable.
Therapy is not always easy, and as you may have found, coping alone is difficult, too. I believe difficulties and painful experiences are a big part of life. And, that connection and understanding can help mediate the pain and lasting impact these difficult experiences create. You might have survived experiences that are hard to talk about. There may be parts of yourself which you have never shared with other people. I provide somewhere for you to express these things in safety, at your pace, with ongoing support.
My first session
The first session together is the start of me starting to know and learn a bit about who you are, and what brings you to therapy. My contract outlines how I work, and I ask that you take a look at this before we begin working together. However we can also discuss therapy, and the contract, in our first session.
