About me and my therapy practice

I have worked as a counsellor since 2004 in the NHS (Staff Counselling and in GP surgeries); University Counselling (students and staff) and Private Practice.

My clients have brought an array of difficult issues, often to do with loss, life-changing situations or a realisation that they need or wish to make important changes. Often there are longstanding concerns which have been brought to the fore by a significant event.

I see my role as that of an enabler - helping the client to clarify thoughts and feelings and to apply this new knowledge to life going forward.

I have an MA in Counselling from Durham University and a BA in English Literature from London University; I was an English teacher for over 20 years prior to qualifying as a Counsellor.

Practice description

My practice is based in Durham City, within walking distance of the city centre, on a bus route and with designated parking space.

Clients can expect to be listened to without judgement in a comfortable, confidential space, to have their concerns taken seriously and to be provided with alternative ways of thinking about themselves and their situation.
