About me and my therapy practice
I have received specialist bereavement training in both human and animal loss through three charities that are well established in this field.
I have experience of providing emotional support and counselling to a wide range of people who have been bereaved in different circumstances, including by suicide, violent death and medical negligence. The loss of a loved one may lead not only to deep grief (which often comprises many different emotions) but also to relationship problems, loneliness, lack of purpose, and loss of trust in life. I also have experience of working with those who are struggling with pet loss.
Alongside my counselling work, I enjoy writing, and have had articles published in Bereavement Care. I regularly read this journal too, to keep up-to-date with developments in bereavement theory.
I also often attend short training courses; these have included workshops on exploring spirituality, mental health awareness, existential therapy, writing as therapy, exploring spirituality, understanding and managing anxiety, and working with trauma.
