About me and my therapy practice
HI, I am Kate and I am a qualified Pluralistic Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP, offering face to face, online counselling and Walk and Talk therapy. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space. I will work with you to tailor the therapy to your needs. I have experience of working with trauma, relationship issues, anxiety depression and low mood, bereavement and loss and anything you feel you want to bring. I work with Relationships Scotland and am training to be a Couples counsellor.
Please contact me if you would like to know more about how we could work together to help bring about change for you.
Practice description
Pluralistic counselling is not just one method. It combines different types of theories and therapies to help clients. The belief is no ‘one size fits all’ and that different things work for different people at different times. We will work together on the best way forward for you.
Trauma
I am a trauma informed counsellor and have completed training in trauma and how it impacts on the body and on mental health. I have worked in two trauma agencies and currently work in one agency dealing with historical childhood sexual abuse, sexual abuse and current sexual assaults. I support people who are dealing with the effects of trauma, such as post traumatic stress symptoms, suicidal thoughts, self harm, low self worth and shame.
Anxiety, depression and low mood
I have worked with people who have struggled to be in the company of others and have struggled to find meaning in their lives. I have supported them to find some meaning and to work through some of the underlying issues that have caused them to feel like this. Sometimes this work focuses on finding practical ways to deal with their anxiety and how it is manifesting for them.
Relationship issues
I have worked with people struggling to make sense of their relationship with their partners, with members of their family and within their friendship groups. Helping them to identify what their needs and wants are within relationships and looking at ways of improving their communication patterns.
Loss and Grief
I have supported people who have struggled with grief, loss and change that can occur through life. Be it from bereavement, loss of jobs and transitional life changes. Offering a warm, empathic and safe space to explore these issues.
