About me and my therapy practice
Have you often found yourself questioning your life’s purpose?
Have you felt unsure of who you are or what you’re experiencing?
Have you experienced abuse or been gaslighted?
You may be living a life, making decisions about your life that aren’t necessarily your own.
If you are reading this, then it may be that you are seeking assistance to help you understand what it is you are experiencing, thinking or feeling. Counselling can offer that space to and offer a fresh perspective.
I believe that in order to help someone, it is important to build a trusting relationship where, together we can look at how you've become who you are today, and why you think and feel the way you do.
In my experience, I have discovered that experiences shape people and these experiences come from a range of places starting with relationships. The first relationships we ever have are with our parents and guardians and these make a lasting impact, acting as a template for any new relationships that are formed. I have realised that in order to break away from these patterns, the previous relationships need to be looked at and understood, to then make different choices.
I have also found that society and culture have a huge impact on how people live their lives. This can be in the form of receiving messages from people directly or indirectly. Some of these messages influence making life choice decisions such as (but not limited to) careers, marriage and children, religion, spirituality and sexuality. These views may be completely different to what you personally believe, creating inner conflict and turmoil.
I have experience in helping people to understand these inner conflicts to help them discover their own life purpose and make different choices, more aligned with their inner values.
I have previously worked with non-abusing parents of sexually abused children, addiction and anxiety.
I am not limited to working within these areas, I have had extensive training and experience in other areas.
I have a special interest in issues surrounding fertility and living with chronic disease/illness. Prior to my counselling training I worked with a national charity on their helpline. Through my work there, I discovered that living with fertility affecting conditions, such as endometriosis, women experienced a sense of loss and purpose in life. As a result, it changed how women saw their self.
My formal qualifications include:

CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies

My first session
I offer initial assessment sessions online or by telephone. There is no commitment at this stage.
This initial 50 minute session will give us the opportunity to talk about the reasons that are bringing you to counselling and what you may want to achieve.
It will then give you a chance to experience what therapy will be like with me. By the end of this session we would have an understanding about what it would be like working together.
If you choose counselling is for you we can then decide upon the weekly time of our sessions.
