About me and my therapy practice
I have a counselling practice in Cambridge, Cambourne.
I am a warm and empathic counsellor with experience in mental health services in prisons. Prior to this, I offered psychological support to clients with addictions in an NHS setting.
I think life can be challenging for all of us from time to time and talking about one's anxieties and worries in a safe and confidential space with the assistance of an empathic counsellor can be very helpful.
Some of us may feel that to try and manage difficulties on our own is what is expected of us but choosing to see a counsellor is a courageous first step taken towards a more fulfilling life and it can be a life changing experience.
My approach to counselling is psychodynamic. In psychodynamic counselling, childhood experiences and early memories are revisited and the way they influence us is explored. Because our early memories and experiences affect us unconsciously, it is hard to become aware of how they may affect us without the help of a counsellor. I pay specific attention to the relationship that develops in the sessions between us. This helps you and me to better understand how you may be influenced by your early experiences. I then bring this to your attention. Once we better understand your past and how it affects you, I then assist you to explore your own solutions.
