About me and my therapy practice

I am a highly experienced Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist (UKCP, MBACP), based in Whiteparish, Wiltshire.

I provide Integrative Arts Psychotherapy to children and adolescents.

I specialize in supporting young people with feelings of anger and aggression; anxiety; poor self-image; low self-esteem, identity anxieties; low-mood and depression; grief and bereavement; bullying issues.

I am highly experienced in working with more complex issues relating to interpersonal trauma and abuse; Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and attachment difficulties.

Please visit my website - FAQs section informs the process of starting therapy. Or do send me an email with details of your enquiry and I will be back in touch.

Practice description

I have worked in specialist education since 2002, in a variety of roles within Social Care, Education and Mental Health.

Over the past decade I created and developed a successful bespoke school therapy service; managing a team of therapists and providing psychotherapy to young people referred for support.

I have presented at various national and regional conferences including; The Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties Association (SEBDA); ‘Engage In Their Future’ (formerly the National Association of BESD Schools); The Centre for Child Mental Health (London) and Team Teach.

I have also created and delivered many trainings to school staff and psychotherapy trainees on a wide range on mental health topics and issues including; Managing anger; Supporting grief and bereavement; Understanding self-harm; Working with developmental age; Managing anxiety; Working creatively with trauma; Young people and the digital world; Multi-disciplinary practice and systemic thinking in Child Psychotherapy; and many others.

I contribute to the MA teaching programme at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (London). I am a member of the tutoring and marking team for the MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, and am an examiner for students’ final Mental Health exam.

In 2012, I contributed a chapter to Margot Sunderland’s book ‘Helping Teenagers with Anger and Low Self-Esteem’.

I am registered with the BACP and UKCP .

My preference is always to work face-to-face. I typically work in a client-led way, responding to the needs of clients in the here and now and aim to bring all of my experience of supporting young people, and the systems around them, in all of my therapeutic relationships.

My therapy room is small, but offers a cosy space to think, reflect and consider difficulties. I offer the creative arts as part of my therapy, but also work in  a more cognitive manner where appropriate. I respond to the needs and preferences of each individual client.

My first session

I always offer a free initial session.

The first introduction provides the opportunity to check in with each other, and  to ask any questions.  I am a firm believer that the therapeutic relationship provides the container for healing, and therefore it is important that everyone feels comfortable.

Working with children and adolescents I believe that it is so important that the young person feels comfortable about attending therapy, and that engaging with me is their choice.
