About me and my therapy practice
I can support you in helping you to explore your anxieties, issues and uncertainties by taking a deeper look at the causes and complexities surrounding you. I will do my best to help you gain greater clarity, confidence and understanding of how to make life more manageable, by reflecting compassionately about your experiences.
My approach to counselling is Integrative with a strong influence of the Person-centred approach, which means that I work with you as an individual to create your own solutions. I also draw on various different methods and modalities, centred specifically to your needs.
I am currently offering remote online sessions via zoom/teams or telephone, this gives you more freedom and relieves you of the time constraints of travelling to and from your counselling sessions. I also have the option of face-to-face counselling arrangements, if required.
Your relationship with your counsellor is unique and therefore a therapeutic relationship is essential, I believe it is important to spend some time to find someone that you feel at ease with, in order to establish this and ensure I am the right person for you I offer a free 15 minute phone call, in this call we will discuss how we would work together and begin to highlight any particular areas to focus on in future sessions. There is no pressure within this call to book a further session.
Sessions are for a period of 50 minutes, it is highly recommended that the sessions are weekly, however, for long term clients I can offer a bi-weekly or check-in sessions where appropriate and only if beneficial to the individual client.
I will also use this session to ensure I have the skills and experience to offer you the support you need.
My first session
In our first 50 minute session we will get to know each other better and I will be able to listen to your story of why you sought out counselling. It will help to decide how you want to proceed with your sessions and establish useful coping strategies and techniques.
Seeking help is possibly the bravest thing any one of us can do, well done that you have made the first steps to seek the help you need. We are often programmed to keep on going, hoping things will get better, this is not the best method of resolving your issues and can become overwhelming over time.
I may not be the counsellor for you but there is someone that can be, I wish you all the best on your journey of understanding.
