About me and my therapy practice
Clients come to counselling for many reasons and talking with someone unconnected with your situation can often be very helpful in gaining perspective on the issues that are currently causing you concern. When exploring these issues together, you can then assess what best suits your needs to create new patterns of behaviour and relationships. It is therefore important to feel comfortable with your counsellor so during the initial session we explore how counselling may help you and what you might expect from counselling. This session also gives a sense of what it is like to work with me in a calm, confidential setting and provides time to raise any concerns you might have before you decide to continue.
I offer counselling services for adults covering a range of personal issues although I have particular experience of working with complicated grief as a result of traumatic loss/bereavement. Within these fields, I also work with adults who experienced loss and separation in childhood through divorce, going into the care system or being sent away to boarding school.
My first session
The first session normally involves you having space to tell me what has brought you to therapy at this time. I will then talk you through what I offer and how it may help together with the process involved, our confidentiality agreement and the fee charged and how payment can be made. This session normally lasts between 50 and 60 minutes.
