About me and my therapy practice
Relationships are what makes us human but sometimes a relationship may need help. Therapy can help to process our thoughts and help with certain events in our life such as those that involve relationships, family problems or work related issues. My practice is therefore focused only on a number of important areas; e.g. personal relationships and work relationships and then linking our experiences to the self in terms of our happiness and self esteem.
I have been practicing as Psychotherapist and a Counsellor for nearly 10 years, yet also have previous vast experience in coaching, if you feel this is something you’d also like to explore. I have also worked in the NHS as a Nurse and Business Consultant supporting individuals, families and organisations, thus bringing a wealth of understanding to many scenarios in our lives.
I will help guide you to work through issues using a person-centred approach, helping you to find your own solutions, coming across realisations that have been borne from your own work and analysis (as opposed to being told what you need to do). I don’t believe in a one-size fits all approach, and believe that every person has the ability, through creating a nurturing person-centred environment, to reach their own answers; to learn and grow. You can be the conductor of your own orchestra going forward.
In conjunction with a person centred approach, I will help you challenge your own beliefs and perspectives using cognitive behavioral approaches. By bringing awareness to the self, and by examining our relationships and attachments formed in the past, I can also help you see how our experiences affect our thinking, behaviour patterns and, thus our relationships in the present.
Practice description
I use a person-centred existential approach, giving you unconditional regard without judgment, and allowing you to talk and explore your options in an environment where you can experiment freely and safely with ideas. Often our peers may try to steer us, and we often hold back from processing our own solutions and ideas. With counselling (and coaching), we can aim to create a dialogue built on trust and without judgment so that you come to a point where you feel you can be more confident about the decisions you make. I may also use CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) techniques as and when necessary for you to be able to challenge your thinking. Depending on your journey, we may also use what is called attachment theory to look back at the patterns formed in life, raising awareness and enabling change.
My first session
I work with clients from anywhere across the UK offering online video counselling e.g. via MS Teams. I can also offer face to face counselling to those living in the Fylde area.
