About me and my therapy practice
Hello and thank you for reading my profile.
Choosing to have counselling does not define your ability with what comes your way, it defines your willingness to explore the possibilities.
It is important you feel you have choice.
When considering counselling, clients can often feel nervous and unsure, particularly if this will be their first experience of counselling. I offer a telephone consultation before any work we do begins. This is a time for you to ask any questions you may have. For example what is counselling, how often do I have to attend, what if I attend and I don’t feel it is for me. Are you the counsellor for me? Or is counselling something you wish not to proceed with at the present time. Our telephone conversation should enable you to feel "is counselling a process I wish to engage in?"
Some issues adults and young people have brought to the counselling room are bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, stress and relationship issues; including physical and emotional abuse. This is not an exclusive list, whatever you bring is pertinent and real to you and will be heard within the room.
Experiencing counselling, being able to offer yourself time to reflect, has in my experience shown itself to be hugely beneficial to clients I have been fortunate to sit with.
Counselling offers a confidential, non-judgemental space for you to take time to be heard, to feel safe and to be respected.
My client’s welfare and comfort are my first consideration above all else.
Through my membership with the BACP I am accountable for the work I do with clients and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework and am subject to its professional conduct procedure.
