About me and my therapy practice
* Due to the Corona virus I am currently offering online counselling sessions via Zoom and a limited number of face to face sessions. I am also able to provide 30 min telephone sessions for £25.
Do you find yourself struggling with life or your relationships? Most of us, at some point or another, go through times in our life where we feel lost or stuck in some way. Whether this is due to current circumstances, or things from the past, talking to a counsellor can help us explore and move from where we currently find ourselves.
One useful thing about seeing a counsellor is that, as they have no real relation to our life, they are able to offer a level of acceptance and an objective view that is not possible within our personal relationships.
Together we can talk things through, explore what's troubling you and help you to gain a deeper understanding of your difficulties. As a counsellor I provide an environment where you as an individual are accepted without judgement and support you to find the change you are looking for, whatever that may be.
I don’t have all the answers…
To me this feels like an important thing to say as often we go to counselling looking for answers. I don’t however, and would never profess to, have all the answers…how could I they’re yours! What I am able to do is use the training I have, as well as my own personal experience, to support you and be with you as you find your own individual way through.
My first session
The first session, or what is sometimes called the assessment, is basically a chance for us to get to know each other a bit. I will take some basic details about you, as well as explore what’s bringing you to counselling and what change you are looking for. There is also time to ask any questions you may have relating to the way I work, or about the counselling in general. I write a fair amount of notes during this session, but don’t tend to in following sessions.
