Continuity is important for therapy to be effective. I work on the basis of weekly sessions in Cheltenham and Oxford. I currently have some day time and evening availability between Monday and Wednesday.
About me and my therapy practice
I believe that many of us are functioning day to day in a way which can appear to others as if we’re ok but I know that getting through the day can feel hard when you’re struggling with how you feel. If this is something you can relate to, if how you feel is really impacting your ability to live the life you want to live, then therapy could be really valuable for you.
In therapy we can work together to :
Better understand what feels so difficult for you.
Identify and gain a deeper awareness of yourself and your patterns and behaviour.
Explore how you feel in your relationship with yourself and others.
Broaden the range of emotions and feelings you can recognise and allow for yourself.
Help discover your own inner resources.
You might have thought about these things on your own but the crucial difference in therapy is that you are with somebody who will really listen to you and pay attention to what you're experiencing; mind, body and emotions. A therapy relationship can bring new awareness about yourself, surprising new insights, feelings and information, especially when we pay attention to what is happening in your body as well as your mind (this can feel new and different but we are whole human beings after all).
All this can come together to help you feel differently about yourself and, importantly, your life's potential.
I am a compassionate and down to earth therapist. I aim to be honest and supportive with you. I want to help you feel safe and able to open up some of the parts of yourself which might feel difficult to share with another person. I’ve been through the process of therapy myself; I know what a big step this can be. I really welcome you getting in touch and can send you more information and perhaps arrange to meet for an initial session together.
I am working in person with individuals from comfortable, private practice rooms in central Cheltenham and Oxford.
My first session
In our first session together I like to get a clearer idea of what brings you to therapy, what your hopes and goals are. I take some basic information from you and answer any questions which you might have about the process. It's an opportunity to begin to explore whether we might be a good fit for each other. Therapy is not something which is done 'to you' it's an active relationship so it should feel right for both of us.
