About me and my therapy practice

13 years practice with young people, adults and families in private practice, community, health & education settings.  I use appropriate and effective therapeutic models and am passionate about facilitating change and transformation using creative, dynamic, integrative therapy, with the needs of the client, supervisee or organisation at the heart of the work.

I work with many issues including depression, anxiety, low self worth, OCD, eating disorders, self harm, thoughts of suicide, bereavement, dysphoria, identity, addiction, anger, loneliness, traumatic events, challenging life circumstances and relationship problems.

My integrative approach has evolved with training and experience and I draw on evidence based models such as CBT, solution focused, person centred, psychodynamic and systemic family therapy. I use creative approaches such as art, sand, mindfulness, narrative and work in a way which is hopeful, dynamic and collaborative to support my client's needs.

My training in counselling and psychotherapy began in 2003. Since then I completed a three year diploma in Psychotherapy, BA Hons in Counselling, PGCert in Counselling Supervision, diploma in counselling children and young people and numerous additional training courses, such as, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy and many specialist shorter courses.

Between 2005 and 2008 I worked for MENCAP and Young Devon where I began my journey of understanding how to support people with Autistic Spectrum conditions, learning difficulties and young people with diverse needs.

In 2009 I began establishing Tor Support Services. With the support of the local community the service was registered as a charity in 2011, and continues as a key mental health provider to children and young people in Devon.
