About me and my therapy practice

Since 2004 I've been helping clients work through mental health issues, eating disorders and physical health issues through exercise. My interest is neurophysiology of the system and it's expression in mental and physical health.

I am qualified in everyday physical health and elite level physical fitness training, and I incorporate exercise and sports psychology into my psychotherapy practice as a tool for body/mind integration, performance and mental health.

I obtained my integrative counselling diploma in 2018 and work in a trauma informed, body/mind integrative way.

My approach is open, genuine, warm, non-judgemental, calm and committed. I like to help people to manage their emotions though working with bodily sensations and feelings.

I'm reflexive and adaptable, I work with what you bring, at your pace and try to keep out of your way.

Other approaches I am informed by include; Attachment, CBT, personal construct,  Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor and Role theory (psychodrama).

Practice description

I offer these ways of accessing my services;

1) online via zoom

2) In person in a clinic

3) in person outdoors (subject to a preliminary health-risk assessment-PAR Q.)

My first session

Usually we will have a 30 minute chat, which is free, where we'll explore the broad strokes of what is happening with you in the moment. It's a chance for you to ask questions and assess whether I'm the right therapists for you.

If you decide to go ahead we will arrange the first paid session where we'll go through our contract and what it needs to contain, things like boundaries, times and days of sessions, session length, session frequency, and so on. It will mostly be an information gathering session including physical health metrics and possibly, even risk assessments.

If you decide to continue thereafter that's where the fun really begins.
