About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified counsellor with a passion for assisting individuals in their journey towards healing and transformation. With experience and a special interest in trauma, I am dedicated to supporting those who are navigating the complex terrain of stress, burnout and attachment, alongside other distress.
My goal is to make therapy valuable and comfortable for you. I want our sessions to feel unique and meaningful. I listen, reflect, and empathise, but I also investigate, challenge, and question. I provide support, but you are in control of your own growth and awareness.
I have experience in trauma-informed therapy, understanding how events can shape our perspective and helping regulate our nervous system. I strive to foster a safe and non-judgmental space where experiences and emotions can be freely explored. Bringing in an understanding of how attachment, communication and thought influences our ability to process experiences in life. As an empathetic and engaged therapist, I believe that genuine connection and understanding serve as powerful catalysts for growth.
I hold the belief that awareness is our greatest agent of change. By helping my clients gain insight into the impact of various experiences in their lives, I encourage them to discover their innate resilience and develop healthy coping strategies. Together, we embark on a collaborative journey towards restoring balance, cultivating self-compassion, and reclaiming a sense of wholeness. My approach is focused on making your daily life more positive, whether it's feeling less overwhelmed or finding more joy. Even small steps can lead to big changes.
Whether you have experienced a single traumatic event, are grappling with the wounds of prolonged trauma, or are simply finding day to day life overwhelming. I am here to support you. Drawing upon evidence-based techniques and tailored interventions, I work alongside you to honour your unique experiences and cultivate a renewed sense of hope and possibility.
Practice description
I practice online and in person in Exeter, Devon. My sessions are typically 1 hour long. If you are interested in starting therapy with me I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation either on the phone or via zoom. This allows us to get to know a bit about each other, so we can both make an informed decision about whether we feel we will work well together. After this my sessions cost £50 per hour but I do have a limited number of concessionary spaces for students and low income households.
I like to start therapy with a client on a weekly basis, as I feel this offers an important consistency. After this however there can be discussions about moving to more maintenance structures such as fortnightly or monthly sessions.
My first session
Before starting work together I offer a free 30 minute consultation over the phone or zoom. If we decide we would like to move forward with therapy, I ask that you sign a client contract, fill in an intake form and complete some outcome measures. This to allow both of us to feel safe and secure in the therapeutic space, and so we both have all the information we need before starting.
