About me and my therapy practice
The relationship between counsellor and client has been shown to be of great importance and I hope that I am able to offer you the warmth, empathy, compassion and safe space to allow trust to build and a strong therapeutic relationship to be established to support you.
I am an integrative therapist, which means I draw on different counselling theories, no one size fits all. Our work will be centred on you and your needs. You won't be told what to do and there will be no judgment.
In the hour that we have together weekly, fortnightly or monthly, we will do a lot of talking, and through talking and questions asked, new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving can develop.
I have mainly worked in hospice and hospital settings with my original training also encompassing working with carers and university student support.
Because of my previous medical background and my work latterly on a hospital ward my natural draw is towards acute and chronic health conditions; how the health changes impact lives and how a 'new normal' can be difficult to adjust to. Loss is a central theme through much of my work with previous clients, whether it be bereavement or loss and grief felt through change.
