About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes strong emotions such as anger, sadness and anxiety can leave children feeling overwhelmed. This can lead them to become withdrawn, struggle at school and in friendships, or show their feelings in behaviours which are unhelpful.

Psychotherapy can help your child to put their feelings into words and help them to express themselves in a different way. They will have access to a confidential space in which they can explore what is causing their distress and, by understanding themselves better, they can have better relationships with their family and friends and begin to build their confidence.

Practice description

My practice is conducted within a multidisciplinary clinic, and I work closely with other professionals to make sure each child is accessing the best possible support. Each session lasts 50 minutes and are adapted to be age appropriate. For example, adolescents and young adults often prefer to engage in conversation and younger children tend to prefer to work through playing

My first session

After a free introductory phone call, an initial consultation will take place. This involves a discussion alone with the parents/carers to understand your child’s background and any other concerns that you may have. This is a chance for me to understand your child's needs better and for you to decide if I am the right therapist for them.

After this, your child may be offered three initial sessions. This is for me to get to know them better and see how they respond to psychotherapy. Together, we will then decide the best way forwards which may be ongoing weekly therapy.
