About me and my therapy practice
I offer a calm space where together we can explore your difficulties. Resolving them seems to happen on two levels: a rational verbal level and a more feeling non-verbal one. The process is unique to each person, but generally I ask you simple questions to help you deepen your understanding of yourself. This enables you to recognise what you genuinely value and want from your life, and to see new options that are open to you. I specialise in working with mothers, and parent couples, though not all my clients are parents. I am the author of three books, What Mothers Do - especially when it looks like nothing (2004); How Mothers Love - and how relationships are born (2011); and What Mothers Learn - without being taught (2020). I see clients in a quiet room in my home, seven minutes from Alexandra Palace Station with an easy connection to the Victoria Line.
During the period of special measures because of the spread of the coronavirus, I am available for appointments on the phone, WhatsApp, Skype and Zoom.
My first session
During your first session, I will ask you whether this is your first experience of psychotherapy or whether you have had previous experience. You can tell me what led you to seek psychotherapy, and what you are hoping from it. After that, we can sort out practical details.
