About me and my therapy practice
My training was psychodymanic - so the basis of my work is relating to the past and to the present and to feelings and the consequence of those feelings to day.
I have also studied Buddhism and I find that mindfulness and meditation can be very helpful for some people.
The most important part of counselling is your, my client's relationship with me your counsellor - your ability to trust the work with me.
Practice description
Now were are in the time of Covid I am working on line via Zoom - Doxy.me or FaceTime or on the phone.
Because I need to keep you safe and I need to keep safe.
I find that working this way is powerful and many people are surprised how effective this way of working can be.
Because counselling is talking and talking with someone who listens and does not judge is both powerful and healing.
My first session
The first session is for you to tell me what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve - what you expect from a counsellor.
For me it is to understand a little of what is troubling you and I need to feel that I am able to help you.
It takes time to trust your counsellor and the first session is the time for you to think 'yes I can work with this person'.
Counselling sessions are for 50 minutes and weekly.
