Sessions from £45.00

Hi, I am Kim, a counsellor working in Poole Dorset.

I offer talking therapy (counselling) with a standard rate of £45 with a concession rate of £35 for those on low income regardless of reason. A discount of £5.00 applies to online / telephone sessions.

I am available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (9am to 8pm) I am available on Fridays after 2pm.  I also have availability on Saturday mornings (9am - noon).  I will always return any contact made with me by the end of the next working day at the latest. I do not work Monday or Sunday.

I provide humanistic counselling either as a single session, short or long term.

I appreciate that some people work shifts and I can work flexibly with your work pattern.

Counselling does not have to be weekly.

About me and my therapy practice

As a Humanistic Integrative counsellor I provide an empathic warm, safe and confidential space in which you can explore your concerns without judgement.

I work with the day-to-day challenges we often face in an every increasingly busy world such as stress, anxiety, life transitions and  loss. My experience with loss includes significant, sudden or traumatic loss such as the death of a loved one.

It also encompasses loss in progress i.e., life limiting health conditions such as dementia and terminal illness. This includes the impact on those who are carers.

When we hit a bump in our life talking helps. Counselling gives us the space to make sense of things especially at when it all seems to complicated to even know where to start.

I do not provide advice however I will walk along side you,  empowering you to find your path, at your own pace and in a way that is unique to you.

Humanistic counselling works with our mind, body and soul (or spirit).  This often means working in the present moment, however this could also mean that you want to gently explore parts of your life that maybe you are not always fully aware of such as a repeating pattern of being that come from the past.

I also weave into my practice creative techniques and some basic grounding and mindfulness if you think they could be helpful.  I have an interest in existentialism and what it means for each of us to be human.

I work with young people over 18 years and above, students, adults and older adults.

Practice description

And welcome to my private practice.  I have a room in a discrete location in Poole on High Street which has parking 3-5 minutes walk away.

I also offer walk n talk therapy in a beautiful country park just on the edge of Poole which is easily accessible with ample parking.  I only offer this service during daylight hours and subject our first meeting being face to face or video.  Nature can be a great co-therapist.

I also provide my services via video and telephone. This service attracts a discount.

I occasionally provide home-visits subject to our first session being face-to-face in my rooms or via video.

Some clients benefit from a mix and match approach and I will always offer this option to clients.  You may feel that sometimes a walk will help after a few sessions on line or in a room.

My first session

A discount of £5.00 applies to all remote (video and phone) counselling sessions.

It's so important to ensure to get to know each other a little before we start.  That first step is the biggest one.

To help you decide if you would like to work with me I offer an obligation free 20 minute "hello" call / video.  I appreciate that I may not be the counsellor for you and that is perfectly ok.

If you think a full 50 minute initial conversation may be more beneficial.  I charge £22.50, this is obligation fee (concessions available). For telephone and video this is reduced to £15.00

Our first formal session will include an assessment and this can be really helpful in setting the scene for what happens next in your therapeutic journey.  My standard rate of £45 applies (concessions available).  For counselling delivered remotely by phone or video this is reduced to £40.00.

All other sessions are £45 (£40.00 remote sessions) and concessions are available for students, those on low income and / or on benefits or pensioners. My concession rate is £35 (reduced to £30.00 for phone or video sessions).

Single Session Therapy is available and can help those who really just need to talk their issue through and find a solution.
