About me and my therapy practice
I'm Jennifer and I became a counsellor because I received counselling at a time when I felt unable to cope with life and felt suicidal: counselling helped me find a reason to live. I now offer my experience and skills to help others.
My specialism is counselling transgender, LGBT+ people and their families. I am an ally to the LGBT+ Community and am a member of The Gendered Intelligence Network for Therapists and Counsellors: trans/queer/ gay/gender diversity is my everyday life and I know of the associated fear and isolation which can go hand in hand with these. I will work confidentially with you to explore your true self, enabling you to be proud of and find joy in the person you are.
I create a safe place for you, where you can be free to be you. I am non-judgemental. I will not tell you what to do. I will work with you to understand and control your moods, enabling you to work towards gaining more control over your life. I will work with you towards self-empowerment, making life choices that are right for you, so you can go out into the world with a new beginning.

Practice description
I have designed my therapy room to be calm and tranquil, to reflect the way I practice. It is both comfortable and professional. The location is quiet with private parking and is accessible via public transport (bus and train). My property is CCTV monitored for safety. I am located in Wrexham, North Wales, not far from Chester.
My first session
Each session lasts 50 minutes. You can have as many, or few, as you wish. Normally sessions take place weekly but can be fortnightly if that’s best for you. You can stop counselling at any time. Your first session will be about what you want from counselling and how I can help you. I will take from you emergency contact details and any essential (minimal) information for example, the name of your doctor (see Privacy). We will discuss what you want from counselling, how I may help you and whether we feel we can work together in a therapeutic relationship.
