About me and my therapy practice
Overview of how I work
I offer a Person Centred and Integrated approach in my practice as a professional counsellor and supervisor with over 20 years’ experience as a full-time practitioner working with both adults and young people from age 14 onwards.
I am registered as a Senior Accredited Member with the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) who regulate standards to ensure best practice.
Strict confidentiality is assured within these guidelines.
In my early years I have lectured as a tutor in counselling studies at HE level and developed and delivered personal development programs for Further and Higher Education students. I have also worked with Cruse Bereavement Care as a trainer and supervisor for over 12 years.
Much of my experience in counselling practice has grown within an organisation/ educational setting where I later became head of the service where I developed a graduate programme and supervised new counsellors wishing to grow and develop their own personal and professional skills.

My first session
How are counselling sessions planned?
After your first session (assessment), regular sessions of up to 50 minutes are booked, usually once a week, though some prefer fortnightly depending on personal circumstances. A date and time for each appointment can be booked at the end of each session, or a number of appointments can be booked ahead if you need to keep the same time slot.
The number of sessions can vary depending on individual needs.
Some people find that one or two sessions are sufficient for immediate issues while others will vary depending on the type of problem. Counselling is very much a process and, as such, can be reviewed at any time to ensure this is meeting your needs.
