About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced integrative therapist used to working creatively and considerately with a diverse range of individuals struggling with personal, emotional and psychological difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, relationship problems, low self esteem and loss.
I am also a qualified psychosexual and sex addiction therapist. This means I provide specialised therapy for adults who experience difficulties in their sexual and intimate relationships and those who feel they may have a problem with compulsive sexual behaviour. I work with individuals and couples/people who are in intimate relationships.
My approach puts you at the heart of therapy because working integratively allows me to draw on a wide range of useful and appropriate therapeutic tools and skills. It means I can support you in a way that fits with your needs. From the beginning, I will help you identify what is important for you to achieve, and together we then explore the ways in which you feel able to do this. We test out, in a safe, non-judgemental space, how it would be for you to be different - and the consequences of doing so.
I have experience of both short-term solution-focused work, for those who want to tackle a specific issue, and experience of longer-term work with people who need to make sense of their past in order to confront the present. Throughout, you will be guided through difficult and confusing emotions, allowed to think what a different future may look like and will be supported in getting there.
What helps me in my therapeutic work are personal qualities that include determination and grittiness in the face of many challenges. I have provided counselling for a major mental health charity and the NHS. As a member of BACP I adhere to the ethical code and the requirement to have regular professional supervision and to continue developing professionally.
I work from secure and modern premises in Chorlton, Manchester and offer face to face and Zoom, dependent on current government regulations and your preference.
My first session
I offer an initial free assessment session, lasting between half an hour to an hour (depending on the type of therapy you are looking for) which is charged for if you decide to continue. I can provide further details when the initial assessment is arranged.
If you agree to continue I will ask you to sign a contract which outlines the conditions of therapy and our responsibilities therein. I am happy to discuss this with you.
