About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified integrative therapist used to working creatively and considerately with a diverse range of people who experience personal and emotional difficulties. This includes issues such as relationship problems, porn and sex addiction, psychosexual therapy, illness, anxiety, low mood, loss and problems with self esteem.
My approach puts you at the heart of therapy because working integratively allows me to draw on other counselling theories so I can support you in a way that fits with your needs. From the beginning, I help you identify what is important for you to achieve, and together we then explore the ways in which you feel able to do this. We test out, in a safe, non-judgemental space, how it would be for you to be different - and the consequences of doing so. I am particularly interested in working with people who experience:
I have experience of both short-term solution-focused work, for those who want to tackle a specific issue, and experience of longer-term work with people who need to make sense of their past in order to confront the present. Throughout, you will be supported through difficult and confusing emotions, supported to think what a different future may look like and supported in getting there.
What supports me in my counselling work are personal qualities that include determination and grittiness in the face of many challenges. As part of my therapeutic work I have provided counselling for a major mental health charity and the NHS. As a member of BACP I adhere to the ethical code and the requirement to have regular professional supervision and to continue developing professionally. I work face to face (not during Covid-19 restrictions) and can also offer alternatives such as Zoom.
From February 2021 I will be working from secure and modern premises in Chorlton, Manchester and will offer face to face once current Covid regulations are appropriate.
