About me and my therapy practice
I specialise in Anxiety, Depression, Emotionally Unstable Personality disorder EUPD (Borderline personality disorder - BPD)
●Narcissistic relationships
●LBGTQ+🏳️🌈
Borderline Personality Disorder / Emotional Personality Disorder.
The first appointment is an assessment in order for me to begin to understand a person’s background, and the level at which Bpd and or a co-morbid condition effects their function, and how they currently cope with their emotions and relationships, and importantly, if I can help someone. The following appointments would focus on learning about how and why we react the way we do within a Bpd and /or co-morbid condition spectrum, and begin to learn about how to manage the condition day by day, if that is possible.
As a person who has lived for many years in the spectrum of borderline personality disorder (Bpd), I have an insight into the chaos and disruption this condition creates.
Narcissism - Survivors and Perpetrators
Perhaps many of us have met narcissistic people and didn’t realise. Some of us have narcissistic family members and some have / had narcissistic friendships, some formed relationships with narcissists, and others have married narcissists.
Being in receipt of negative narcissistic behaviour either short term or long term, has the ability to render a person feeling disempowered, fearful and seemingly dependant on the narcissist. A person can also feel fragmented and questioning their abilities regarding decision making and sometimes severely limiting their self-esteem and confidence.
A person’s healthy belief system of themselves and identity can change over time, developing a sense of never being good enough, with the narcissist taking control over them either covertly or overtly.
LGBTQ+ 🏳️🌈
I work with those in the LGBTQ+ community and am open to the varied culture and beliefs that reside in the Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Trans, Queer and non-binary social structure.
Practice description
I use a combination of DBT theories, CBT and traditional Psychotherapy and Counselling.
I work in a relaxed and informal manner with therapy and assistance clients with the issues they are facing.
If I have a goal, it is that the client can become more independent with their life and make decisions that are helpful to them.
My first session
The first meeting is an assessment.
During the assessment, both the client and myself can discuss issues or circumstances that are causing difficulties and disturbances in the persons life. It involves listening to the persons back story leading up to the present time.
It is an opportunity for the client to ask questions to understand how I practice and what course the therapy might take.
