About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Yvette Wass and thanks for choosing my profile. My experience pans over 12 years and my specialist areas include relationship problems (personal, work, family etc), sexual difficulties and emotional eating/binge eating. Often these occur in the wider context of other problems relating to depression/anxiety, grief and other common life problems which I can also help with. I am what you call an integrated therapist which means I have been trained to use a range of counselling approaches to be versatile in matching my approach/techniques to your issues. I have clients who request solution focused therapy to work through specific life difficulties, so a short course of 6-8 sessions. Others require a more specific tailored treatment programme (between 10 and 20 sessions) and some simply return to counselling for adhoc appointments when they are thrown a curve ball and they are finding things tricky.
Counselling is not an easy process but insightful. It provides a space to reflect, talk and explore issues that may be difficult to talk openly to others about. If you have any questions at all please do get in contact. My website address is https://relationshipwellbeinguk.co.uk
I offer face to face counselling from my therapy room at St Catherine's House which has it's own free car park and I also offer zoomcounselling and telephone counselling so you can receive counselling in the comfort of your own home. This can be helpful if you live further afield, have a hectic lifestyle or childcare responsibilities etc.
Appointments are usually for an hour but longer appointments can be arranged and I try to be flexible where possible to work around client's working patterns. I offer both daytime and evening appointment slots to accommodate this. Embarking on counselling, especially for the first time, can feel daunting. There are lots of hopes and uncertainties but I hope you will find my approach genuine and non judgmental and you will be able to make sense of your issues and feel empowered to overcome them.
I also run ecotherapy workshops on behalf of Empowered in Nature (www.empoweredinnature.co.uk) which is a social enterprise. These small group outdoor workshops cover key themes such as grief, bereavement & loss, stress & anxiety, emotional eating, sleep difficulties and goal setting. There is a connection to nature and the woodland environment through mindfulness based activities and therapeutic conversation.
