About me and my therapy practice

I am a registered member of the BACP and an integrative relational psychotherapist. This means that I employ a diverse range of psychotherapeutic methods, customizing my approach to the unique needs of each individual. Through the psychotherapeutic relationship, I employ this therapeutic alliance to illuminate conflicts and personal struggles. Additionally, I collaborate with my clients to identify crucial coping strategies and defences that may have served a purpose in the past but present challenges in their current lives. Together, we embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, aiming to cultivate a sense of identity, self-esteem, worth, and the ability to fulfil desires and needs while fostering healthy, mutually enriching relationships.

My areas of expertise encompass various domains, including addictions. For instance, addictive behaviours can arise from a complex interplay of various factors, leading individuals to experience profound feelings of loneliness, isolation, and emotional turmoil. These challenges can adversely impact their relationships and introduce additional physiological complexities.

In my therapeutic practice, I view the process as a collaborative endeavour. We have the unique opportunity to explore early life experiences, particularly early attachments, in order to identify individuals' fears, desires, and the strategies they employed to navigate life, both in relation to themselves and others. My primary goal is to establish a secure therapeutic environment where individuals, along with their thoughts and feelings, are given utmost care and attention. This supportive space paves the way for individual expression and empowers individuals to make choices aligned with their personal growth and well-being.

My first session

I offer a first session that lasts 1 hour, as an exploratory session. This is where I feel it is important that both of us determine how or whether we could work together. Subsequent sessions last 50 minutes and I normally offer 1 year, following which, together, we can review whether or not to extend the therapy.

As a registered member of the BACP I work in accordance with the BACP's Ethical Framework and adhere to a strict code of ethics. All sessions and consultations are confidential.
