About me and my therapy practice
"I was so anxious about starting therapy, and normally find it hard to talk about myself, but you made me feel really comfortable". This is a sentiment that I often hear from new clients. I know that sharing our vulnerabilities with others takes a lot of courage, and many people put off seeking help for fear of being judged. So I feel privileged whenever someone begins their counselling journey with me.
I have 25 years experience of helping people with a wide variety of mental health difficulties. I left psychiatric nursing to retrain in person-centred counselling because I strongly believe that this kind of talking therapy offers long-term benefits, by giving greater self-awareness and understanding. My focus is on you as an individual, with your own unique perceptions and experiences. The impact of life events is different for all of us, so our focus will be on what's important to you, not on any presumptions made by others.
I have an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy and also hold an enhanced DBS check.
I offer 50-minute sessions either face-to-face, online using zoom, or on the phone, whichever suits your needs best.
I offer a concessionary rate of £30 to students in higher education.
The room I use is on the ground floor, with just a small step at the threshold of the property.
I have availability across weekdays and Saturdays with early evening appointments also available Mon-Fri.
