About me and my therapy practice
I am an integratively trained therapist and trainee Clinical Sexologist, with experience counselling in NHS, workplace and charity settings. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and a student member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists.
I always endeavour to create a non-judgemental and welcoming space, where you can talk confidentiality in a supportive environment. Together we can explore any issues or difficulties you are facing, to enable you to create change in your life, and improve your mental and emotional wellbeing. If you have any questions or concerns, I am happy to discuss these over the phone to help you decide if therapy is right for you.
Regarding qualifications, I hold a master's degree in counselling and am a doctoral candidate in mental health research at the University of Manchester. I am currently undertaking a Diploma in Clinical Sexology at the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology, and in practice as a psychosexual therapist in a trainee capacity. Integrative therapy, or integrative counselling is a combined approach to psychotherapy that brings together different elements of specific therapies. Integrative therapists take the view that there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations. Each person needs to be considered as a whole and counselling techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances.
Psychosexual therapy is targeted toward helping with sexual difficulties including those related to desire, sexual function, pain, trauma, problematic sexualised behaviours and relational issues. As a therapist I am committed to a plurality of sex and gender expressions, and take a sex-positive and affirmative stance to the diversity of gender and sexualities.
My style of integrative counselling incorporates person-centered counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic approaches, psychosexual therapy and solution focused models. These tools and techniques are tailored to your style of learning and personal development, integrating affective, behavioural, cognitive, and physiological aspects of your psyche.
