About me and my therapy practice
Maybe your life has changed significantly, and you're struggling to adapt?
Maybe you have a dilemma and you don’t know what to do?
Maybe you want to improve your life or relationships but don’t know where to start?
Maybe you struggle with a mental health issue, and you’ve heard counselling could help?
My name is Josie (she/her) and I'm a psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Worcester. I work with individuals - adults and teenagers.
I provide an impartial and outside perspective on your experiences in a way that's not possible with family or friends.
Together we can:
- Make sense of what’s going on
- Process difficult emotions
- Look for patterns
- Break down problems
- Look at how your past impacts the present
- Find solutions
- Set goals
My background of working in mental health is diverse, so that has led me to have some specialist areas that I work in, including:
- coaching to address problematic drinking
- recovery from adverse experiences of psychiatric services
- living with ME/CFS
- high sensitivity, female autism presentations and neurodiversity
- coach-counselling for teenagers
Practice description
I provide sessions online (using zoom or whatsapp), face-to-face in my office in central Worcester, or by phone. I also have some availability for text/email-based therapy, and for home visits.
I offer a 15-minute zoom or phone call where we can chat about what's going on for you, I can answer any questions you may have, and you can use it to help decide if therapy with me is for you. You can book this online here https://untangle.me.uk/#book
The type of therapy I offer is pluralistic. This means that I adapt how I work to suit you as an individual. The base of our work together is us building a relationship where you feel safe - where you can trust me, where you know you are free from judgement, and I am open and honest with you.
My first session
A first session can be really daunting, especially if you've never had therapy before, or you've had a bad experience. For some people, the first session is a time that they can offload everything, and it can be such a relief to do so! For others it's more of a getting-to-know-eachother session, where if you're not sure where to start I can ask you some broad questions about your life to get a sense of who you are. You are of course welcome to ask me questions too!
The first session or two are a bit experimental - seeing if we click - whether you feel I understand you and I'm someone you can talk to.
What I can help with
Abuse, Addictions, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Life coaching, Loss, Mood disorder, Neurodiversity, Personal development, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
