About me and my therapy practice

I am a CPCAB qualified therapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer counselling in person, via Zoom or on the telephone to allow clients easier access to fit sessions into their busy lives. My wide-ranging experience includes working in depth with male and female clients who have experienced anxiety, depression, bereavement, childhood trauma, child loss, relationship difficulties and that feeling of not being good enough. I have counselled women prisoners through the charity Choice 4 Change, working with them on anger issues, making sense of their trauma experiences and addictions. I also work with young people who are experiencing anxiety related problems, depression, and other mental health challenges in their lives, both in private practise and in Secondary Schools.

I am an Integrative Therapist and will incorporate different styles and techniques of counselling to find the best way to work with you. I am theory informed and someone who listens with awareness to hear what you are saying and what you are not saying but want me hear.

My first session

I offer a free 20 minute to chat for you to to get a sense of if I am the right counsellor for you.

The first session can be nerve racking, you’re about to start talking about very personal things in your life and you are being asked to place your trust in a stranger. You are not put under pressure to reveal anything you don’t want to, this first session is about getting to know me, and me getting to know you, talking about what you want to achieve from your sessions and forming the beginning of our counselling relationship.

To keep the relationship safe, I will go through our contract in the first session, which I email to you beforehand. I want you to be fully aware of how I work, the ethics I abide by and how confidentiality is maintained. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions as it’s important you are comfortable with what is in the contract – actually, you can ask for clarification of our contract at any time.
