About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to West Lancashire Counselling. My name is Gwen Govan and I have been a counsellor since 1994 and senior accredited since 2009. I offer both counselling which tends to be more focused and psychotherapy which is longer term and more rooted in the past. I work with individual adults.
I would describe myself as a psychodynamic therapist and am particularly interested in your past experiences especially those shaped in childhood. It is often possible to discern a particular pattern in the way each of us manages our different relationships.
Counselling will hopefully be stimulating, challenging and freeing. It is however essentially about change and recognising that changes can sometimes be painful and unsettling and require patience and practice.
Therapy appointments are available at a variety of times, during the week, some midweek evenings and Saturday mornings. I charge £40 for a 60 minute session. To check whether this might be for you I offer a half price taster session on your first appointment. Please email me to check current availability.

My first session
The first appointment will be an assessment to determine the core issues, any concerns which I need to be aware of and also allows you to experience whether you might like to continue in this way.
I offer a half price 'taster' session and there is no pressure to book another until you are ready to commit to counselling.
