About me and my therapy practice
I have previous worked in both Physical Rehabilitation and Mental Health but retrained in Counselling as I appreciated that it was often feelings, emotional adjustment and relationships that could be the most difficult areas for individuals to face. In addition to this past difficulties and experiences can still be having an impact on the present day with ongoing feelings of sadness, anxiety and depression.
As a Counsellor I will offer you a safe, relaxed, respectful and non-judgemental space, within which I hope you will feel really 'heard', supported and accepted as we explore the issues that are troubling you. In doing this I aim to enable you respect and listen to yourself and your own needs,so enhancing your self belief and confidence to move forward making the decisions that are right for you.
I am a qualified integrative therapist and, as a result, use several models depending on your individual needs and preferences. However, the approach that underpins my work is that of Person Centred Therapy with its core values of Acceptance, Empathy and Congruency, which always places the individual and their needs at the heart of the process. I believe that I bring warmth, calmness and empathy into my work and and will always be supportive of you as you begin to explore your own feelings and thoughts. My belief is that as you gain more insight into your 'self' you will inevitably feel more empowered and able to cope better with the challenges that life can present.
