Hello, my name is Paul,
Do you feel low, anxious in the present and unclear about the future?
I aim to give you a safe space to tell your story, understand your feelings and identify your skills and strengths so you can have the confidence move forward in your life.
It was through my previous work in both Physical Rehabilitation and Mental Health that I began to appreciate that it is often feelings, emotional adjustment and relationships that can be the most difficult areas for individuals to face. These can result in ongoing feelings including sadness, anxiety and depression. This lead me to retrain as a Counsellor to work with those that may be unhappy with their lives and wish to change.
I will offer you a safe, relaxed and non-judgemental space, within which I hope you will feel really 'heard', supported and accepted. My aim is to enable you to respect and listen to yourself so you can find your own strengths while developing your self belief and confidence. I believe that you will then feel more able to make the decisions that are right for you.
I am a qualified integrative humanist Counsellor and, as a result, use several models depending on your individual needs and preferences including Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural and Transactional Analysis. However, the approach that underpins my work is that of Person Centred Therapy with its core values of Acceptance, Empathy and Congruency, which always places the individual and their needs at the heart of the process.
My belief is that as you gain more insight into your 'self' you will feel more empowered and able to cope better with the challenges that life can present which may lead to us under estimating our own abilities and strengths.
I normally work from my study at home face to face. However due to the current COVID 19 situation I am now working over the telephone or internet.
