About me and my therapy practice
My training is in Humanistic Integrative Therapy, CBT and Coaching.
I work to support you in healing from past experiences and creating a toolkit of cognitive and behavioural strategies to help you better manage the things that impact you currently.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can help you manage the impact of anxiety, depression, stress, anger, with practical skills to help reduce those things that are holding you back from leading a fulfilling life.
My coaching experience enables me to help you develop new, helpful habits, that can lead to lasting and sustained positive change.
We can also work together more deeply to understand 'you'. The things we experience in our lives, can leave an imprint on us which can affect how we see things, how we react and how we deal with life experiences. By supporting you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself, I can then help you find better ways of reacting in the future, leading to reduced anxiety, stress and conflict and improved relationships, wellbeing and overall life satisfaction.
Practice description
I work together with you, always with compassion and curiosity (not judgement). By bringing together your unique perspective and my therapeutic knowledge, we can consider things in a way that invites fresh perspectives.
We would tend to meet weekly after some mutual discussion about what would suit you best.
You remain in the driving seat throughout. You choose the direction of our work together and you decide how long you wish to remain in therapy. I work in both short term and open ended therapy and am keen to ensure your support is individualised to meet your needs and your desired outcomes.
My first session
Our first session would be an assessment. In this, I would like to know as much as you are comfortable to share with me. I will ask questions and you are free to decide whether you answer them or not. I would like to know what you would like to achieve from the therapy experience. I will offer my perspectives on how I could support you and will invite you to ask me questions so that you can get a feel for whether you will be comfortable working with me.
If we both feel that working together would be beneficial for you, we would then discuss future session dates/times. We will try to find a mutually convenient day and time to meet on a weekly basis. I appreciate it is not always convenient to meet on the same day/time for a variety of reasons and therefore offer a flexible session by session booking approach where that is needed.
